Gotta love books on sale

imagined by: James Mathias

I went to Hastings the other day. I was there picking up my monthly magazines, and I wandered past the computer books rack, as I normally do.

When what does my little eye spy, but “XSLT Developers Guide”. This is great as I need a XSLT book for a project I am working on.

So I pick the book up in order to skim through and see if it has the info I need specifically, as programming books–although a write-off–are expensive, usually $40(usd) and up. So I skim through and discover it has all the information I seek, and what’s better it’s in an organized and well written format.

I flip the book over to check the price, $39.99 as usual. So I decide to purchase the book, and take it with me to the counter, the clerk rings it up and the total with my two $5 magazines and tax is $16.84. I’m baffled, I say “Why is it so little? The book alone is $39.” The clerk says, “No sir, it’s marked down to $5.99.” Inside I said “Yessssss!” on the outside I said “Oh, cool. Thanks.”

Great deal on a great book, and what’s better a useful and needed book.
