Daily Drawings: 11th-15th Apr 07
imagined by: James Mathias
Alright, so here is the new format for daily drawings. I still draw them daily, but I only post them weekly. I would have posted these this morning, but I kinda got sidetracked this weekend with something I’ll announce shortly. I also missed Monday and Tuesday this week due to seeing Grindhouse and grocery shopping. Blah here thy come.

Bob was partial to being cute as a button, it helped with the ladies.

Thom enjoyed his time in the woods, chopping trees, almost down.

Lu, seriously had to reconsider racket ball opponents after the incident last Friday that left him with a broken horn, he was the laughing stock of the underworld.

A sketch of a piece of a new logo for a new blog that I’m almost done building.

Tiny could play the harp with the best of them, he was a serious bad ass.
All drawn on heavyweight archival quality paper with a Zebra M-402 mechanical pencil from Japan.
I drew most of these while laying in bed, except the gun pencil which I drew at the desk.
I hope you enjoy them and I’ll see you next Sunday.
Oh and if you really hate this new format, let me know, I’m not 100% sold on it yet, and I want to make sure you guys are happy.

I like the new drawing format, but I miss the idea of new posts on here everyday

Digging the disembodied-floating-parts characters. Very cool. You should make them into a TCG and make millions of dollars off of our nation’s youth
Your spam filter won’t allow the word c@rds?

Although I miss seeing these every day, it kind of gives me something to look forward to on Monday mornings.
I’m digging that logo though. I don’t have the slightest clue what the theme for this new blog might be. [/sarcasm] [/nerdy quote thing]

@Michael, would text posts almost everyday help with that need?
@J. Bradford, Yeah sorry about that I had a flood of spam related to card games, so I added card to the spam filter.
@Brent, the new blog is technically up, but I’m going to announce it her on leihu a little later today, so keep an eye out for that.

I like the new drawings format, makes it more interesting. And yes more text entries too please! Even though I’m your wife and I hear you every day I still love reading your writing and so does your mommy!
Very good drawings too!!!

Yes more text articles needed!
Would be nice to hear more about 1lotus too, I still check there now and then but there are never updates

I agree on the 1lotus posts. Miss those, but I do like this format. I prefer your text updates to comics, so I think this consolodates them nicely, though perhaps lowers the amount of feedback you get per drawing. It’s up to you which you prefer on your blog, but your words to me weigh more heavily than your drawings.
Nice drawings though. I’d kill to draw like that in bed, and very very unique

Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.
I wasn’t getting many comments per drawing at all, so I figured it didn’t matter either way.
The whole people liking my writing thing is fairly new to me, I’ve always thought that folks came to see the drawings but according to all the feedback I’ve been getting it’s actually the writing that keeps folks coming back and the drawings just a bonus.
As for blog posts at 1lotus, not going to happen anytime soon, as the blog over there has been moved to Here. I’ll be posting industry and creative professional type articles over there, like before but just with it’s own style and home.
I’ll be doing my best to supply at least one written article per week to both sites. As well as continue my weekly drawing posts and netflix movie reviews.

Rewrite the blurb on Lu and then make a T-Shirt out of it. Love it. Too damn funny.
Great illustrations, James.
Can’t say as I prefer the once a week, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Thanks Rich.
Roger, thanks. What do you mean rewrite it? Completely or just tighten it up? I write these spur of the moment, so it’s what ever pops in from looking at the drawing.
The weekly deal is something I’m trying out, it’s working OK so far, we’ll see how it goes.

“Having lost a horn and become the laughing stock of the underworld, Lu was forced to seriously reconsider his love of synchronized swimming.”
(insert whatever bizarre sport you can imagine.)

Well, now that’s you writing it for me… I can’t have that. But funny none-the-less.
