Daily Drawings: 23rd-29th Apr 07
imagined by: James Mathias
Still not sure I like the way this is working out. I think I’m going to split the drawings into their own section of the website, like a mini-blog of sorts. That way I can post illustrations whenever I want without taking over the main blog, and also allowing visitors to view illustrations at their leisure.
In any case enjoy this week’s Daily Drawings.

Here are the final graphic versions of the sketches I did last week for possible Involver default avatars. We didn’t end up using them, but Simon suggested possibly making tees out of them, cause they’re pretty cool.

Having three eyes was a lot better than having two or worse yet, only one. At least this is what Phil had always told himself.

Not sure with this one, I started out drawing conceptual fire and end up with this. Sorta looks like a comic book style Dragon Ball Z character?

Again no idea what this is, just started drawing circles, this came out.

This monkey has four tails, three growing out of his head, this gives him an unprecedented amount of agility and control within the trees.

The king of babies, he likes to eat Dingos.

Beaker? Maybe, again just came out when trying to draw a bush.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s drawings. All were drawn with a mechanical pencil on archival paper, except the avatars, they were created in Photoshop, using shapes and layer styles.
Enjoy and see you soon.

Looks like some of the good ones came out of accidents this week. An excellent example of the kind of things that can happen when you adapt to mistakes.

Almost everything I draw is a mistake.
I try to adapt as much as possible, sometimes I just do it too slowly.

Just my .02, but I preferred a daily drawing post instead of a weekly post full of daily drawings.
I want a T-shirt with the male avatar on it. :P

Hi Josh, Yeah I think I do to. I’m going to work on splitting the drawings off to a mini-blog.
Tees would be cool with those characters.

I don’t really like the color of the bodies for the avatars, but other than that kudos to you =).
And I preferred the daily drawings being done daily.. lol. =)
Nice work on them btw, digging the 3rd one =)

the body colors are based on the web-site they were for. On a tee I could change them to anything.
Daily Drawings will go back to being daily soon.

These are great. I see how you are consistent in posting them. I cannot help, but over at my blog, I can never seem to maintain a proper schedule to post my artwork.

Vyoma,
Welcome to leihu and thank you.
It is difficult to be consistent with these doing them weekly, and I’m working on a way to go back to doing it daily without overrunning the main blog.

Those avatars are phenomenal. I love ’em. Great work.
I’m not as crazy with the other pieces in this series though. Sorry. They seem rushed and not nearly as refined as your other work. (Sometimes unrefined can still work very well… and I’ve seen you do that. But I don’t personally feel that’s the case with any of these.)
Just my opinion of course. Art is very subjective.
